Do I need an appointment to see the Notary?
Yes, we highly recommend clients book an appointment prior to visiting us, as we are typically fully booked throughout the week. If you are unsure about whether you need to speak directly with the Notary, please give us a call and we would be delighted to answer any questions you may have.
Do I need to bring ID to my appointment? What type of ID works?
Yes, BC Notaries are required to confirm and keep a record of the existence and identity of every individual, corporation, or entity on whose behalf I conduct a financial transaction. To comply with our obligations, we must review original identification documents and keep copies for a minimum of 10 years. Valid identification means government-issued picture identification: your Provincial Driver’s Licence or government-issued identification, permanent resident card, or passport. We prioritize your privacy and will keep and disclose it only as mandated by law.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept credit or debit cards, cash, cheques, or e-transfers. We do NOT accept Wechat payments.
How much do you charge for a document notarization?
- For normal documents, such as an Invitation Letter, we charge $60.00 (exclusive of taxes) for the first document notarization and $30.00 exclusive of taxes for each subsequent document if you have multiples.
- For Affidavits, we charge $80.00 (exclusive of taxes), and $30.00 for each Exhibits.
- For Land Title Office forms, we charge $250.00 (exclusive of taxes).
- For a whole package of Real Estate Transaction documents or Mortgage documents, we charge $499.00 (plus taxes) for the whole package.
- We do not witness your Separation Agreements.
I am unable to come to your office, can you meet with me at my home or the hospital?
Yes, under normal circumstances, at the discretion of the Notary, we will conduct house/hospital visits at an additional cost.
I know you have two office locations: the main office in North Vancouver and the satellite office at Langley. When do you work at the Langley office?
Our Langley office is by appointment only. Should you prefer to meet with Lisa at our Langley office, kindly inform us in advance and we will book you in promptly.
What Is the Difference Between a Notary Public and a Lawyer In BC?
Although BC Notaries and lawyers both deal with legal matters, BC Notaries do not represent clients in court and do not get involved in litigation or family law or agreements, including separation, divorce, adoption, or child custody. In the realm of real estate, BC Notaries pass the same real estate bar exam as lawyers to facilitate real estate transactions.
